The Diamond body type has the following characteristics:
- The hips are broader than the bust and shoulders and the midsection is full.
- Weight is heavier in the stomach, back, hips, and buttocks area.
- The waist area is undefined and is the widest part of the body.
- The arms are slender and shapely.
- The upper leg area is heavier.
- The lower legs are shapely and are the most attractive features of diamond body types.
Create the illusion of an hourglass figure: The midsection is the widest part of the Diamond body type bodies. Create an illusion of a waist and balance your narrow shoulders with your hips (no matter you weight) to balance and create a waist.
Create curves with color: A monochromatic look usually works best. Splashes of color to the upper body with wraps, earrings, and necklaces.
- Wear a dark colored dress with a wide belt
- Wear a dark pant or skirt with a bright colored cami or scarf
Add volume (or the illusion of volume) to the top of the body to minimize the bottom, thus creating a waist. Remember to always stay away from tight clothing, such as tube dresses. Create a curvy look by mixing and matching dresses with an A-line skirt to give the illusion of a slim figure. You can also add volume by wearing a darted or belted waist, cuts, or embellishments to draw attention and to add volume to the bust and shoulder areas. Also add volume to the upper body by wearing full sleeves, princess sleeves, flutter sleeves, etc. Wear modestly padded shoulders to add volume to the upper body. Big lapels and wide necklines and off the shoulder are ways to create volume. Wide lapeled A-line belted coat dresses with structured shoulders make for a flattering look.
Tops with cuts, necklines, and embellishments add volume and attention to the shoulders and bust. Wide necklines, off the shoulders, and full sleeves create a flattering look. Wide-lapeled wrap skirts and jackets with nipped-in waists, structured shoulders, and slightly flared bottom look gorgeous for diamond body types. Skirts and jackets that come to the hip bone create a flattering look.
Wear A-line skirts that gives the illusion of a slimmer body. Stay away from clingy and straight pencil skirts. Wear pants with simple pockets or no pockets at all. Wear straight leg jeans that fall straight down from the widest part of the hip area. Do not wear jeans with whiskering at the hips. Wear midrise waist and wear pants with tapered leg.
Wear wide belts, chucky necklaces, earrings, scarves and wraps. Wear body shapers that trim the bottom and thighs (like Spandex).
